Christmas trees - real or placky?

Like Lu and TVC, I put the cards up but that's it. (See my annual Christmas avatar.)

I'm going to a friend's for Christmas dinner this year and she has a real tree. It's the same tree, year after year. It is in a pot and spends 11 months of the year living outside and comes in to be decorated. Best of both worlds. Get one with roots. The less plastic we use, the greater the chances that our children's children's children's children's children (and so on) will have a planet on which to celebrate/bemoan this time of year...

Got our very first real tree yesterday...went to a local farm which has over 4000 trees. Made two mistakes:
1. I let my 6 year old son choose the tree
2. I didn't think about measuring it!!!
We now have a VERY large Christmas tree dominating most of the living room...it was way too heavy for the base that I bought so have had to anchor it to the wall using nails and wire.
On the plus side - it looks fab and I got it for free!(no I didn't nick it!!!)

Ms P and I have a christmas stick. We got it in the woods. We put lights on it and everything.
