It has been whispered about at the Great Central Railway for a while, but at last it's been announced that they are planning an annex to the York Railway museum at the Leicester North Terminus of the GCR.

Also full surveys are complete and Architects plans are under way for the already funded link across the main line at Loughborough to join GCR and GCR(north) so linking Leicester with Nottingham by puffer train. Rumours are that Virgin are going to bid for the franchise ^_^

Oh I bloody hope so! Then perhaps the clowncil will invest in Abbey Pumping Station and build a museum for King Richard. ^_^

East Midlands Today have Peter Soulsby on saying it's a done deal and will be open in 5 years time. Apparently the museum will incorporate the existing Leicester North station within it's boundry. Good stuff.

Let's hope there is a heritage shuttle bus between the Railway and the Space Museum tying all three exhibits together.

It can only be good, York ran out of space years ago!

Its extension in Shildon is worth a visit.

I was impressed as my last encounter with the site was when it was a wagon works.

That's the point, they have so much stuff that they can't exhibit they need a second site, and they actually get to run their stock.

A third site actually.

Yes, I know, and they are a really good idea. Hopefully we eventually will have them for each region.
