The Leeds gig at City varieties was great. I met up with CharlieB of this parish beforehand and went for a curry at Akbars. I took on the Akbars challenge and ate it all and was rewarded with a free pudding. The gig was wonderful and demonstrated the spectrum of musical talents at the groups disposal. Some former members turned up and, for a change, they performed Tubthumping. It's a shame that they are splitting up as I'd only just caught up with them as a live act. It was a sell out gig and many of the fans turned up in fancy dress with Halloween as the theme. There was a very friendly atmosphere and many hard core fans. I've added a couple of the band's CDs to my Santa list. Two encores later we retired to the Wrens where I introduced Charlie to Copper Dragon and we both marvelled at the sudden late night action at the night club across the road from us. Midnight seemed a strange time to start the evening but I discovered why on my way to the car park - all the other night clubs closer to the university were heaving and had huge queues and what we had witness was the overspill finding a venue that had space for them.
