Just in, the way there was nice, just heating up - nice weather. On the way back I went on the cycle path
Instead of the roads, it was raining and I didn't have a jacket but it was much nicer. Got home in around 40 minutes!

I promise I'll be careful! Tried them out before it got dark, back wheel never used to fly up. What would you do in an emergency stop of ou go over
Your hadlebars?

With a bit of practice you'll learn exactly how much pressure you need to put on the front brake to remove 90% of the weight off the back wheel, without going over the bars (quickest and safest way to brake) - Just go easy on it as you get used to your new found stopping power.

I don't want to post another thread, so I'll just give you some updates here. I've almost centered my v-brakes. I stripped down, degreased, cleaned and regreased my bike today. I pumped up the tyres, cleaned the chain and relubed it. I mounted my hand pump to my frame.

Nice looking bike and I love to see helpful, constructive, positive comments from other contributors.

Whenever ugly, sneering invective and humour-vacuum snottiness tempt me to leave CycleChat, these snippets of advice remind me why I joined and stayed.

Bravo!

There doesn't look to be much space to fit mudguards on your bike. Given that your pics show Scotland as emerald green it must rain a lot so you are going to frequently get covered in muck riding when it's wet.

The valve could be straighter ;). Only kidding.
