Claris vs Tourney TX

I'm doing an upgrade on my old Hybrid from 7 speed to 8 speed. New hub, shifter, casette. Question is it looks like I'm going to leave the Tourney rear mech as it supposedly supports 8 speed. However, I know from my old roadie Claris was an 8 speed part too. Confused...

Yes, but they're both 8 speed parts that can handle ranges if 13-34t? I can't see what difference it makes if one says 'Road' somewhere.

Road or MTB it’s the same difference.
