Seems sensible to have the rumoured Chris Evans at the helm.
As an 'OK bully' they might just manage to keep the whole team together.

But I wonder what deal Clarkson has lined up. Some of his recent tricks have looked contrived enough to aim to get sacked.

If he'd walked away in style, he could have continued with Top Rear. Now, Top Rear might be interesting.....

Assuming it's true, the aftermath should be interesting. Will the other two be asked to stay on, and if so, will they? My guess is that Hammond will be hoping to be asked and very keen to stay, May more ambivalent. Not because May has any greater loyalty, or anything like that...just that I suspect Hammond knows that without TG he'd swiftly sink out of sight, whereas May can probably envisage a much more promising post-TG career, and might well just think the hell with it. In any case, they may not even be asked...BBC may consider them very much 'a package', and be looking to make a clean sweep. It's hard to see good chemistry developing between Hammond and May and a new front man such as the mooted Chris Evans.

May's voice would be good for radio. Waggoners' Question Time anybody?

Hammond comes across as Clarkson's obsequious lap-dog on TG, while James May is more like his own man. I reckon Hammond will run off into the sunset with Clarkson and do whatever Clarkson wants him to do.

I sincerely hope that Chris Evans does not get the TG job. He is an irritating attention seeker though, so probably fits the bill. I did say similar when he took over the radio 2 breakfast show and he has proved me slightly wrong there as his show is less bad than I was expecting. The format is already getting a bit tired though, so it might be the right time for him to move on from that.

Hammond would be fine as a presenter of something or other...he was very good on Brainiac:Science Abuse & Total Wipeout and he's always been busy, without Top Gear...I see him as a bit Jamie Theakston...except not quite so handsome and a lot, lot shorter...
