Here for rides.
It's not impossible to read May's comment as referring to the small incident of not getting a hot meal - especially since refers to Clarkson as a knob.
Not impossible, no. Do I think it likely? No.

And the "He's a knob" stuff from May and Hammond? All a bit VIth form for me.

it is now easy to realise that if the BBC had not paid all that cash for Clarksons production company, it would have been the production company and not the BBC who would have had to deal with all the Clarkson personal events.

As said at the start, it was that 2012 worthless purchase that likely led to his. After that Argentina and other stunts failed to get him the sack, just maybe he felt a punch was needed to move onto that future path of bidding riches.

The BBC might as well sell that now semi worthless company back to him for a couple of million.
The incident, a sustained verbal assault followed by a punch, doesn't sound like a complicated plot or contrived to get himself sacked to me. He lost it. Why would he bother when he's at the end of filming a series at the moment and he could have just easily not renewed the current contract - which isn't going to happen now anyway. And if he'd wanted out by the route you're suggesting he's not been trying very hard since 2012 has he.

So he is not seen to do a runner with all the money.
That Argentina thing failed to get him the sack even though it ended up pretty much as a diplomatic incident.

Who knows, but it all seems to have kicked off after he first sold his production company back to the BBC.

He'll no doubt turn up somewhere and the BBC sales to Dave and other UK and foreign commercial channels will make far more money for the BBC than they cost so let's just savour the moment and forget about him and this whole sorry PR stunt of his.

My apologies, i was referring to bullying his co-stars. And just to be pedantic as I'm tired between nights, the bloke he has alleged to have hit hadn't actually said he has been assaulted has he? Rumour, guess work and media rubbish is what we are all working on here. And as Clarkson has previously tried to hit that hideous creature Piers Morgan I'd happily forgive him for running over my cat.
If that nerk ran over any of my cats I'd do more than chin the fecker. :cursing:

I would be interested to know how many Clarkson supporters would be happy for one of their colleagues to verbally abuse them for thirty minutes then physically attack them for another five, simply for doing something they didn't like. Not many is my guess.

The dogmatic liberal elite have finally kicked out Jeremy Clarkson. I hope they're happy.

[sacking Jeremy Clarkson is] further evidence of the Beeb’s self-emasculation, its sheepish, apologetic jettisoning of anything that might rile right-thinking viewers or make Hampstead-dwelling licence fee-payers choke on their Ovaltine.
Wait...

Ovaltine still exists?

i thought this is an interesting post for all the wrong reasons.

The BBC bought the company to protect their interest. Its obvious they wanted control and anyone dealing with a known individual such as Clarkson cannot afford to take chances. Even if they did not buy it, they would have had to deal with him and I am sure it will in the same manner such as the inquiry. I am also sure Clarkson (the company) would not be holding an inquiry on Clarkson (the presenter) if the BBC did not own it. Thats like your local pub owner having his own disciplinary inquiry for handling one of his customer badly.

And why is it a semi worthless company and why would they sell it?

Which is something else of concern?

Why?

Is it possible that after a sustained attack like this, including threats of sacking, Clarkson's previous Teflon nature and seeming immunity that they felt unable to report the attack?

I would certainly as part of the investigation be looking into whether that was the case

I suspect that if polled none or very few of the people here have changed their opinion, from positive to negative, of Clarkson due to this incident.

It also seems that grates with the haters.
