That was the sound my Cateye LD1100 made this morning when it unclipped itself from my pannier, rolled along the road and was then run over by a bus.

Grr.

I didn't even need to have it today, it was more than bright enough.

Cateye stuff is hopeless for this, my Single Shot plus did this regularly and got replaced and the replacment did it, my Hope Vision 2 never gives me any cause for concern. My rear Cateye has tie wraps to help it stay on, they seem fine for occasional use but a bumpy commute day in day out doesnt suit them.

Never had a problem with Cateye. The Singleshots are renowned for breaking at the mount. I prefer to use the QR lever style H31/32 brackets instead of the H34 flex tights.

Rears are always as solid as a rock...I've seen some which fall out because they are regularly yanked from the mounts which wears the gripping tooth.

Must be the week for it.

Mrs Monkey managed to knock the cateye I put on her bike off. "Didn't you hear it?" "No." /shrugs

P*ssed off as not only was it an expensive light, it had two good quality rechargeables in it.

My previous Cateye Speedo done that too quite a few months ago.. Although still structually sound, the screen was cracked, badly and didnt live to tell the tale.. shame! Still, the battery was still usable!

Cateyes sold here come with that appalling twisty locknut mount which couldn't hold anything. If you want a decent mount, you then need to fork out up to £10 in an LBS.

Buy your Cateye in the US however and you get a proper mount included, and the whole lot costs 1/2 of what it does over here.

Rip-off Britain.

Which paper did you get that out of?

My Cateye wireless comp, not a light but hey.. Came off whilst bombing down the road on my commute home from work. It was 250m down the road when i realised it was from my bike the noise had come and I realised it was missing. Thought it had to be squashed but unclipped and searched every sq inch upto where I though it might have fell. Then along came a bloke on a MTB with my comp in his hand. Boy was I glad to see him. He handed it over, said he saw it in the middle of the road. Not a scratch on it.
