Clatter clatter crunch crunch.

One of the teeth for my Mars 4.0 broke shortly after I bought it, I always meant to get it fixed under warranty but it never happened. One ride back in spring I rued that inacttion. It doesn't happen often but I got a green light at the bottom of Whitefield Road at Halbeath Road; the mars never survived the left turn (it was clipped to a wedge bag) and made a similar clatter, clatter, crunch, crunch noise. I'd been impressed with the light through winter though and its proper mount so I went out and bought another; unfortunately the price had went up :-(

Yer Cateye mounts suck, still just use it as excuse to get some decent lights...

In their favour, I will say that I've found the LD1100 to be excellent - it has remained attached to my bag ever since I bought it about this time last year (hence it being on today when I really didn't need it to be) and I think it to be very visible, especially with the two rows of lights, and variable settings for each.

I liked it so much that I've ordered a replacement from Wiggle. I will put a cable tie on this time though, just in case.

I was tempted by the Mars 4.0 - in fact, I may still buy one as a contingency rear light for the winter.

Cateye stuff is hopeless for this, my Single Shot plus did this regularly and got replaced and the replacment did it, my Hope Vision 2 never gives me any cause for concern. My rear Cateye has tie wraps to help it stay on, they seem fine for occasional use but a bumpy commute day in day out doesnt suit them.

+1

I lost one of Cat-eye's top of the range rears earlier this year. Fell from its bracket and smashed. Admittedly the road surface was awful, but it makes me interested in finding a brand with a more secure bracket.
