Claud Butler Chinook

Hi All,

In our shed at home we have a CB Chinook, it's probably nearly ten years old yet has been ridden only a handful of times. Husband started out with good intentions and never got in to it, now he'd be better off with something wider (tyres etc) for slow family bike rides with young kids - I tried this one day on the chinook and its painful and difficult to ride/balance at the same time as chatting with a 4yr old!

So as we're not serious cyclists I'm hoping some more knowledgable people on here can help me out! Is there any value to a bike like this? Is it worth me trying to sell it second hand? If so, where? I asked a couple of local bike shops when looking for my last bike but they both don't do second hand sales. I'm not sure if ebay is a good idea, we're in a fairly rural location and wouldn't be able to post it?

Any advice please? I can take some pictures if that helps at all?

where in the country are you ?

all bikes have a value , get a pic and put it on the classifieds on here as for value hard one to answer without having more info and pics

Photobucket / flickr type picture hosting sites have a facility to format your pics for forums.

A lot depends on condition and the components (gear mechanism, brakes) maker Shimano etc and type SIS, Deore etc.

I don't know the model but CBs are decent enough generally upper low end bikes, for your info on price & depreciation I've recently bought a 10yo road bike with nice components for £100 that was £850 new. I also looked at a similar age tatty Falcon bike with lower spec stuff probably £2-300 new going for £15.

yep can see them now , looks an ideal flat barred bike for anybody to use as a commuting machine and leisure riding .

try advertising it for offers over £125 and see what happens . is it in good mechanical order ?

try the fpr sale section on here or local Gumtree or preloved or friday ad and then if all else fails e bay , increase your market by offering to send bike in a box for extra £20 as long as you can get a box from lbs or halfords
