25 years ago I really wanted to buy a lovely used CB road bike from the bike shop on Hayling Island, but my Dad said no

I think they were very well regarded at that point .

I've got a CB Urban 200 hybrid at the back of the garage that used to see regular commuting work. Fairly basic, light enough for what it was and no mechanical failures. Great for plodding to the shops on. If the road bikes are like that i'm sure you can't go far wrong.

Did get a few comments about it being an 'old mans' bike which was a bit odd. Someone likened it to the Rover of the bike world if were talking car comparisons!

I called in to the bike shop on Hayling Island a month ago when visiting my daughter. They are still selling CBs. I took up cycling last year, at 65, and bought a CB San Remo. I have been very pleased with it, although I did change the rear dereaillier and cassette to get up the Cornish hills. Done 4000 miles so far.

Claud Butler have a very long history and many changes of ownership , i had a an early 90's Mtb that was great and of course the older road bikes have a great tradition , but newer stuff just look a bit BSO in my mind .
