Just back from picking this up a Claud Butler Tourer with full Reynolds 531 st frame .

Might be my winter bike not sure yet need to ride it first as a bit small at 21" .

So might ended being used as a donor for one of my spare frames I have in the loft .

A couple of hours in the garage and some fresh grease and a set of tyres .

Aside from the fact it's too small for me, I rather like that. CB produced some nice frames in the lugged steel era. I regularly see a 1990-ish CB MTB with a large size lugged Reynolds horizontal top tube frame down my local and it always gets an admiring glance from me.

I tried some of the really early, egg-shaped Biopace, and had problems with chain and FD issues, the later were okay, but i found a regular old Shimano C-201 wound up doing best. I like Biopace, it just doesn't always play well with others. Though that Raleigh has had some issues , coming to me as a foundling like it did, and needing frame straightening. And all components.
