Cleaning oil bottles

Anyone got any ways of cleaning glass oil bottles? I've tried hot water washing up liquid vinegar but still left with smeary glass.

Seems strange, but petrol is a great degreaser. I would just make sure that once the petrol has evaporated, you then clean the bottle in hot soapy water.

Eco washing-up liquids perform miserably. Try Fairy Liquid with really hot water.

Maybe you need to get one of these to agitate away the smeary bits rather than just relying on soaking...

Trouble is the opening is only 1/2 inch

Try an old-school bottle brush..........

Thanks for the suggestions. I've done it a treat with Mr muscle window cleaner sloshed around, left for a while and washed out with WU liquid.

Most bottle brushes will fit through a ½" neck. The wire ain't gonna be more than about 3-4mm.

True but it's the globe shape of the bottle that is also a problem

How about some washing powder mixed in with warm water.
