I've found an old toothbrush and dish brush to be excellent tools for cleaning gears and derailleurs - however they are now just big blobs of black skank with plastic handles sticking out of them.

Any tips for cleaning the gunk off cleaning implements?

No tips for cleaning them, no. Just bin 'em and get new ones!

Fortunately, my misses is obsessed with getting new toothbrushes very 2 or 3 months meaning I have a ready supply (of used ones!) for cleaning muck out of dérailleur sprockets etc!

vello's right. don't mess about with dirty and polluting white spirit when you live near a wilkos;)
  5. Wilko indeed, why do they not exist down south. I was 25 before I ever saw one.

    2 toothbrushes (25p)
    1 Washing up brush (39p)

    1ltr white spirit substitute (89p)

I like the disposable idea myself!
