Cleat covers for my shoes?

Next week I am going to be walking the kids to a child minders before cycling into work. This will involve walking for about 20 minutes in my cycling shoes. I have SPD shoes and so the cleats are recessed, but walking that distance will still wear the cleats down. Can you get covers for SPD cleats?

One of the guys at work has normal road shoes. He took some flip flops (larger than he'd wear) and modified them, with a hole for the pedal parts.
