Clicking noise

Hi people wonder if anyone can help, my bike has a clicking noise coming from the pedal area, noticeable when out of the seat and go up hill can't feel no play in the crank or noise when I turn it, thinking it could be the pedals, it's a whistle parking 29er and shimano pedals

I fitted a pair of Shimano M520s about 3 months ago. Within a month the left pedal developed a click, which was fixed by disassembly of the pedal and tightening the lock nuts. Now the right pedal has developed the same symptom, I will be stripping it tomorrow
