Clinchers?

Looking at new tyres. Saw tyres referred to as "clinchers" Whats this mean please?

Nah....you'd never get the clinchers over the tubs.

AKA wired-on tyres, high pressures, HPs, pressures.

"Clinchers" is a recent US import.

Clinchers have been clinchers in my neck of the woods for about 20 years.

Prior to that they were crochets.

General question on this subject then, would all pros still use tubs or has the quality of clinchers improved enough that some might use these instead?
