So been a month using clipless, only one fall. Buy two things no one on here has said about them:

How effe sore it is when you slip in the rain cliping in... offt sore shin!

When you get of your bike in the rain to push a broken down car.... they ain't the shoes don't have great grip for this! And does no car drive stop to help people any more? There was a woman with her kids broken down on a little bridge this morning, the cars most have been qed back 1/4 a mile and not able to get past with the on coming traffic.... I was the only person to go help her out. Even when I put the bike to the side of the road and was pushing her to get enough speed to bump start her, folks still sat in their cars watching!... next rant, bump starting your car this is a skill every driver needs to know and not wait untill some cyclist tells you how to do it by yelling in the pissing rain... with a sore shin

lol you get used to the rain, just take a few extra seconds to get your foot in.

I once saw a broken down car in the middle of baker street (big 4 lane road in central london) and i was just walking past, i went to push it into the bus lane to get out of the way of traffic. Doing that in leather soled shoes isn't a great idea, but it also doesn't help when the driver doesn't take it out of park.

I had to help a lady ages ago who had broken down by a roundabout. People were having to jump up onto the high kerb to get around her - even a few scrapes. At first I just went past, but then went around the roundabout and back to help her out. Just pushed her out of the way. It's amazing how lazy some people are!!!

if your using look cleats then i would strongly recommend getting some rubber cleat covers for walking in, they make a huge difference.

Could the mirror not just have been pointing in the correct direction for her?

Last winter I clipped a mirror  and folded it forward. I went back to fix it for the driver and to my delight it was a nice young woman who was appreciative (I maybe should have asked for a date )

A few weeks back, I got out of a car to help a cyclist who was stranded in the middle of a roundabout, nasty hole in his shin, chain sitting on the BB. There was a charity ride on that day, and he was about 2 hours behind the pack, maybe 50 miles in.

He was extremely surprised. Works both ways

I came off my bike a month ago, slipped on the giveways in the rain. A queue of traffice built up behind me as I got up dusted my self off. The first car start started pipping his horn, wound down the window and shouted "eh mate, move your bleedin bike off the road". Not one Person asked if I was OK.

It's always nice to stop for another cyclist and offer help. Every now and then you get a brill feeling from having helped out. I'll usually offer help to stranded drivers too, but most I've done so far is give a push to help them park up.

On clipless, bashing your shin must be as sore as bloody SPD cleats releasing and firing my heel back into the edge of my seat on the recumbent just as I'm applying max force getting away from the lights. That's why I changed from SPD to Look Deltas.

I came off mine going round a corner in the wet last November. 2 buses were waiting at the traffic lights and several cars. Not one person asked if I was ok (which I wasn't - broken/dislocated thumb). Bus driver opened his window to tell me I'd dropped my tools!!

Took me a while to pick all the parts of my bike up off the road and still people were driving round me
