Seventy pages going back to 2011 on clipless pedals
It's not exactly Rocket science.
It isn't but I do think that many people find them quite intimidating. It's very easy to get into the mindset that they are just for the full lycra kit 25mph peleton types and cycle shops often don't help dispel that image.

I only really got the courage to go that way after posting and reading posts here. Oh - and finding Sigma as I didn't feel like I'd walked into the wrong shop. You know the ones I mean. Those shops for other people. The tall slim ones that need complicated carbon bikes...

I've been riding 25 years, got my cleat stuck in the right pedal the other day as I crested the top of a climb, ended up falling over into a ditch with several cars passing by (3 drivers all stopped and asked if I was okay, which was nice). The clipless pedal can outwit even the most experienced of us at times 😂

Have I told this story before? Probably. Years ago my left foot got jammed and wouldn't unclip. New shoes and probably I hadn't tightened the bolts properly. Whatever. Anyway I managed an all-day ride stuck that way, having to remove my shoe if I needed to get off the bike.
