The first couple of weeks upon clocks changing are notorious for increased road accidents as drivers get accustomed to driving in the dark. By mid November things settle down so just be careful for now.

Why do we put the clocks back anyway? outdated idea needs to be dropped!

If they didn't, it wouldn't get light here in Scotland until sometime between 9 & 10 in the morning. We Scots cyclists would be cycling in the dark more, and that's something I don't relish!

So that it's not dark at 9am in the morning...? But that is a hugely OT debate.
Down sarf it maybe debatable, but not up here. I'd far rather drive to work at dawn then in the pitch black. Especially with kids going to school etc. Look on the bright side, it starts getting lighter again in less than 60 days

haven't seen much difference here, last week has half term here. both dusk commutes this week have had the usual mix of idiots who forget cyclist are humans and those who go out of their way to say hello including one white van man who had priotity at a crossroads yesterday and stayed put becuase he could see that I could get out and turn right without stopping, so let me out - he got a big smile and a thank you. Maybe the saoking wet female cyclist look helped - my long hair had fallen forward and was dripping with rain, or he was just helpful, but it made a pleasant end to the commute.
