Here's my 1992 Orange Clockwork following recovery from commuting duties.

I used it from November to about mid Feb with road tyres and it made a great commuter. Now I'm using the Falcon I've treated it to a new BB, chain & cassette and a new back tyre. I've also greased up the wheel bearings, rebuilt the fork and given the thing a good clean!

All set for general knocking about & family bike ride use.

I'm really falling for the look of hard tail Oranges - it can only be a matter of time before I start bothering the ebay fairy for one. I think if you're going to bomb around the Pennines on anything, it kind of makes sense to do it on something that was conceived and screwed together in the same bit of the world. Looks great.

had it led a sheltered life previously?

I've had it from new! It gets pulled apart every few years.

TBH the frame is the only original part (the forks were added in about 1995); frame paint is bulletproof.

Lots of places
I had the original aluminium elite which was awesome eventually i twisted the forks which i replaced and then the down tube cracked few years later but it was one of the best bikes ive ever had.

It's one of the best things I've ever bought! It cost me £599 in 1992 with rigid forks and the original Suntour XC Expert gears (a very early 24-speed groupset)...

Really great looking bike. Looks like it would give a comfortable riding position for knocking around on.

It's great! It could do with a bit more standover height for technical stuff (I have a 29" inside leg...) but a mate of mine has the smaller 17" frame and it feels a touch cramped.

That's really nice. Here's my Clockwork. I think it's a '93 but could be wrong. Not bad for 18 years old. The only components changed since new are the chain and tyres! Yup...it didn't get much use...i hit 17 shortly after i bought it and then it was all cars for the following 10 years. Mine is a 19"....i wish it was a 17 then i'd be using it now.

WOW! Original seat, bars and stem! I think it's a '92 as the graphics are the same as mine were (I replaced all the transfers a few years ago). Same size frame, too! Great to see some of them made it over there, despite you having a choice with all those Marins, Fishers etc etc.

I still have the original pedals with orange straps...

BTW I wouldn't use those bars for anything serious; they were super light at the time & they're likely to be on the brittle side after 18 years or so!

Yup. All original.....even the chainset is still in pretty good nick, although i'm upset the biopace sticker came off.
It (alex) didn't make it over to the US. It's still locked in my parents garage in Surrey. So now it's my bike for when i visit home.
