"Cobblestone" bikes in TDF

Either Phil or Paul mentioned that some teams have special bikes for today's cobblestone sections.. what would these have to soak up some of the vibes?

My dad had a spez roubaix and it had funny gel/rubber bits in the forks and seat stays

most of the teams were riding carbon frames but less stiff than the top end frames they usually ride. Eg. saxo bank were riding as sambu stated the spez roubaix instead of the s works which does include the zerts inserts also most teams when riding the cobbles opt for a more traditional wheelset of aluminium instead of deep carbon rims
to allow abit more give

How fat is fat on a racer? 28mm?

25mm I think, probably run at slightly lower pressure than usual. Plus massively padded bar tape.

It did look like some of them tyres were suspiciously wide. 25mm would be about as wide as they would get.
