Hi all
My partner has been diagnosed with coccydynia (inflammation of the coccyx) this has been on going for a few months now. While she is waiting for her MRI scan I was wondering if anyone here had found a saddle which helped with this?
Thanks Pete

Shouldn't that be inflammation of the "coccyx" ?

I've got this currently, being treated by a physio after developing low back pain a week ago. Had pain there for years on and off, usually occurs after sitting for a while, not on the bike, more train or tube train seats. Put it down to a fall down stairs landing heavily on my bum! A&E fairly unconcerned at the time. I had a back op 20 odd years ago so if it doesn't clear up, the physio will send me to a back specialist

I've not ridden a bike since it started, saddle wise make sure it's the correct width and then it'll be trial and error. Has cycling been diagnosed as the sole cause? I'm taking anti inflammatories and using heat, wheat pack or hot bath which are soothing

Not sure of the cause yet Vickster waiting for the MRI for a clue. NOSAID s are not an option unfortunately.

Ice or heat may help

There's plenty of good info out there on the net

She should stay off the bike until it clears up

Was that an unusually long ride for her?

Hope she doesn't have to wait too long for tner MRI? Presume they did X-rays already

I'm sorry to make light of your partners complaint, which sounds like a real pain (I'll avoid the obvious cliché).

But I genuinely assumed that this was a thread about some new uber-cool cycle cafe

The dose of radiation is too high for that part of the body. Soft tissues wouldn't show well enough either

We have tried saddles with holes in. No help unfortunately

Didn't know that. I had a CT scan on my lower back in 1993 prior to surgery, more radiation with CT but was necessary. Also had plenty of X Rays at the time

Do you have private HC to speed the process?
