Get a very expensive De Longhi coffee machine.....you know you are worth it.
Like one of these you mean?

I have a couple of large espressos a day, and it makes stuff as good as any cafe.

I'm inclined to agree with Marmion, all that's needed is a cup, some coffee granules and a tea spoon to stir the coffee after the hot water is added.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've just checked our new one, as I made myself another drink.... it's a DeLonghi Magnifica Rapid - not a Miele. It's one like this

Ours is a bit older I think, but very good nevertheless, it takes either podsxx( or there are 2 sizes of mesh filter for single or double Espresso:becool:

Albeit I was sceptical to start with, the coffee bores on the coffee websites (I kid you not, there are such sites) pretty much all say, "the grinder is the thing". So I eventually bought a (2nd hand) Mazzer grinder - the sort they have in cafes, with the view of getting an espresso machine later. Do you know what? The "grinder is the thing" - worth every considerable penny - and I mow use my stove-top moca pot and didn't get round to the espresso machine. The setting on the grinder is key though. The ebay guy I bought it off (he refurb's commercial-grade grinders and espresso machines) asked me what brew method I used (said moca pot) and set it for me. I later moved it half a notch and it wasn't as good so moved it back to what the expert said and left it well alone since.

So, my advice is get a Mazzer super jolly grinder off fleabay and enjoy. One of my more extravegant buys no mistake, but one of my better buys all the same

Filter machine and Tanzanian peaberry ground every 4 days or so. Very occasionally stove top espresso pot or cafetierre.

And coffee should not have milk or sugar added, ever. :okay:

I got an illy francis y5 for Christmas and was surprised how good the coffee is, and it has a milk frother built-in. It was on sale at a very good price.

Fresh ground* coffee in the mug; fresh boiling water; and a couple of minutes for the "floaties" to sink. No sugar. No milk.

* If you can, fresh roasted green beans, fresh ground. And get yourselves in-laws in Yemen!

*** Damn - once upon a time I could harvest coffee berries, dry them on my roof, separate the husks (they make a superb drink, with the right spices); then roast and grind ... just as much as you need. Heaven.
