I add the extra water as I'm a bit of a wuss WRT bitterness in coffee. Some mornings I actually add a splash of milk.

I drink instant at work (I used to use my aero there too but it kept going walkies) and so long as you consider it a different drink, it's ok-ish.

It is a fascinating topic although I shall ensure not to investigate the coffee forums, I spend way too much time on forums as it is!
I'm very new to coffee, all mine is supermarket bought ground beans and made in a cafetiere, but I'm quite a fan already. In fact, I have a one cup cafetiere at work, as well as another at home (no-one else drinks coffee at home) as well as 2, 4-cuppers for filling the flask for fishing ^_^

I find bitterness varies according to water temp and how long you brew. Hotter water and longer brew seems to produce more bitterness.

Instant's OK too (again, depends what and how you make it), if you like it there's no point being elitist about coffee anymore than there is about bikes or wine or beer (OK, beer's an exception) .... but that shouldn't mean that you can't explore or appreciate its differences.

Hey thanks for all the replies..
Sorry to the traditionalists but think the nespresso is the way to go for my lazy ways..
Going to look this weekend at different makes and models as the weather looks like another washout this weekend. There is only so many times you can get drenched on the bike and keep smiling.:-D

Fish like coffee too ?? :o)

Funny you should say that, I've often wondered whether or not it would be a worthwhile addition to groundbait. Probably won't ever try it though, knowing my luck it will turn out to be a natural fish repellent (not that I'd notice any difference)

No skin off my nose - you drink whatever you like. But if you're coming over all hoity-toity about the superiority of espresso over cafetiere then drinking instant, don't be surprised if some of us raise a wry eyebrow.
