You have 2 types of cleaning for an espresso machine. Descale, which cleans from the water tank through all pipes & outlets. Secondly there's flush, which cleans the outlet side of the machine, group head, steam wand & hot water spout.

Costa have been closing outlets, presumably the poor performers in order to make the rest of the chain more attractive to potential suitors.

Bain Capital also own Gail's and Pizza Express, both of which have presumably struggled in recent years.

Costa has been owned by Coca-Cola since 2019, who have plenty of prior experience in profitting from putting abysmal drinks everywhere. Previously owned since 1995 by Whitbread pubs/hotels, a less successful but still very profitable spreader of poor drinks (with the brewing mostly sold to InBev in 2001). Quality not needed, you see?

This all surprises me slightly; Co-op has been in bed with them for several years, and generally they are very good at finding reputable/sustainable/woke suppliers. As a frequent night cyclist, I perk up seeing a Co-op as there's a high chance of a respectable (and working) coffee machine!

It depends on the co-op. Central Co-op sometimes (maybe usually?) have Insomnia Coffee machines.
