It looks a bit like it but I wasn't countering your post in any way vickster, it's a valid point to consider. I was just musing aloud more than anything. Quite often the emphasis is placed on what groupset or what frame material when people take the plunge on a new bike - they market these things for a reason - and there's a lot more to it than that.

Indeed, and manufacturer / brand name is a major driver (I'm a market researcher by trade)! When I got my 'first' roadbike, the Pearson, I absolutely did NOT want an American brand, wanted something else. To the OP, I doubt you'll see re than one or two others on the Colnago, while you'll see at least one Boardman on every ride and about 5 Specializeds!

I am completely new to it all really. So I suppose any drop bike will feel good compared to my mountain bike. I would like something a little different and have been advised get the 105 group set if I can afford it.

I could really do with someone who knows there stuff coming with me when I buy something rather than the advice of a salesman.
