Confuses me - genuine question - what about all the people out there with SPD pedals etc?

Bicycle shoes generally have reflective panels on them, though.

Does this counteract the legal issues?

Fair point, I forgot that. If your bike was manufactured prior to 1985, pedal reflectors are not required.

I agree just tell her. Though how someone could not realise that white is at the front and red at the back is beyond me.............and I don't even drive yet it's blatantly obvious walking down any street in the evening/night what is "normal".

Just tell her, the end of the day she's doing herself potential harm with them being on the wrong way.

Personally if she can't work out that red is on the back and white is on the front then she shouldn't be allowed to ride a bike on the road. Everything else is like that and if she still hasn't noticed then she can't be that aware of anything regardless.

It's obvious. When she looks behind, all she can see is white lights and when she looks to the front, all she can see is red ones, so it must be white at the back and red in front, surely?

Since you've noticed her but don't know which department she's in, I guess there's two options:

1. If you wouldn't like to meet her, just swap them round. She probably won't notice.

2. If you'd like to meet, get to know, etc. ... then wait until she's back, make the suggestion and open an conversation. You never know where it'll lead ...

Since most people these days meet future partners at work, 2 seems a good option ;-) - unless there's a current Mrs Thames, when I'd just swap them round and watch from afar.
