Colour Coordination: Does it Matter?

We need a new shower enclosure and tray as the old one is knackered and leaking. The bathroom suite is in some obsolete shade of something or other that was all the rage for about a month in 1989 when the house was built. Now I see no issue at all with a white shower tray among that lot, it's only a bloody utility after all and it's not as if we spend hours sitting in the damn bathroom - in, do your business and out again.

Mrs SJ however, won't hear of it. She's insisting on a new bath and washbasin to match. This is gonna work out expensive, I can see quite a few bike purchase vouchers disappearing from the bank account for no good reason (Well, no good reason to me, anyway).

What do the panel think? Is she being unreasonable or am I just a slobby old chav?

You should be grateful that you managed to avoid renewing it for so long!
I recently had to change the bathroom taps and waste traps as my wife decided that Chrome was nicer than Brass. This also meant the loo roll holder and behind the door hook needed replacing. The previous ones were only 10 years old and to my mind would still be serviceable for the next couple of decades.
Bite the bullet, change the lot and then congratulate your wife on her style and sophistication - you know it makes sense!
(and also what kind of a man goes to the toilet and doesn't remain in there for at least half an hour?)

Replace the bits you must in white and offer to paint the rest to match. Job done
