I'm interested in a frame that is supposedly a custom built (ie unbranded) SLX.

I've asked for some more photos, but in the meantime, does anyone recognise this photo as being a genuine Columbus style? Although I can find decals with "Columbus" at the bottom rather than the top, they all have the Dove, which this doesn't appear to.

it's a Columbus decal, but that is still no guarantee of it being Columbus tubing - not that it really matters. Genuine or repro Columbus decals are easy enough to get hold of, so there's no reason for anyone to buy a fake or inaccurate one.

As dan says the 'spiral' rifles are on the down tube, seat tube and both chain stays at the bottom bracket. Oh and the fork steerer.

The rifles stiffen the BB significantly over SL with a minor weight penalty (something like 35g if I remember correctly).

I like my SLX and dan's built his own. TSX was slightly lighter, but nothing like as robust, and you were not recommended to 'chrome' it.

I found Columbus miles better than Reynolds.

Fantastic technical information over there! I actually opened an account there a couple of years ago - I'll have to move my arse and actually post something one day.
I know! Dan is awesome, just to be able to tell me all that from a couple of photos!

The way things are doing it looks like I am going to pass on it. I've found a 753 that looks much more promising, despite it being a Pug: hopefully it is recent enough not to be too idiosyncratic...
