Comedian Sympathy Laughs

Went to a gig in London this weekend and saw four stand ups do their thang. One of them totally blew it on stage to the point where the audience were giving him sympathy laughs(!) I thought this kind of thing never happened and that the audience would tear him apart?

Have you been to comedy gigs that have been less than funny?

Oh yes, a couple of times, comics have just died on stage, one was meant to be this chav charector, and no one found it funny, and the girl from little miss Jocelin was'nt that funny either

I went to see a local comedy club and the second guy on died, period. He didn't get a laugh from the first joke, and no one laughed at anything he said after that. It was infectious, almost, and I felt acutely embarrassed for him.
