Roy Jay, did the clubs etc in Spain. Went down hill hit the bottle and sadly died in 2006. Allegedly his body was unclaimed until a local business man paid for his funeral.

Just to follow this up. Talking to my Dad yesterday, it turns our that my great-grandfather, who was a fairly well-known music hall comedian and songwriter in his day (known for such 'hits' as "I'm not at 'ome in 'igh society") was good friends with Will Hay, who also started in the music halls.

Well I never! Knock me down with a feather! Where's me washboard? etc. etc.

No, no. Have you seen the bit where he does a perfect impersonation of - um - you know, that guy who did all those movies? Even had the same hair. Comedy Gold.

He still has a loyal following but not the mainstream success (ie BBC series) that Stewart Lee has. I saw him on his last tour and was surprised that the theatre wasn't full. His Leicester Square Theatre podcast is excellent.

Yes, his podcast is my favourite. Well worth subscribing too.

As kids we all used to do the windiw thing and found it hillarious. Although as a small boy I may not have been the highbrow sophisticate I am now, but remember sitting down to watch Harry Worth on TV with us all in fits of laughter. One I still remember was where he was on holiday overseas crossing the borders but his paperwork wasn't quite right. He ended up stuck in "no man's land" beteen two barriered border crossings and they wouldn't let him in to the next country, whilst the previous lot wouldn't let him back. Things escallated comically until it ended up with both sets of border guards trying to push his car to the others' country
