Yes it's our way of showing sympathy for the plight of our southern counterparts presently suffering from the sahara dust and smog.

Those relics flats are an absolute eyesore and have been for years. It's good to see that they're incorporating a practical element to proceedings, rather than the usual route of spunking hunners on single use props and fireworks.
