Two miles into my commute this morning I hit a pothole. Result, one pinch flat. Not too bothered, the last puncture took less than 10 minutes before I was on my way. Unfortunately, the 20 inch Durano tyres that were pretty tough to get on the rim when I fitted them at home proved far more difficult to remove on the road. One tyre lever snapped as I tried to get a start on the tyre. Then the second one also snapped. I think that maybe these cheap plastic levers weaken over time? I resorted to using a screwdriver (with a bit of tape round it for protection) and finally got the tyre off, fitted the new tube, and then plenty more faffing around getting the tyre back on.
Unfortunately, after all this, when I came to inflating the tyre, I discovered that the end of the pump had cracked and didn't work. So 20 minutes spent fixing the puncture, only to call the Missus to pick me up, take me the 2 miles home, and then go to work on the motorbike. Amazingly I was only 1/2 an hour late though.
Just ordered some decent heavy duty tyre levers......and a new pump.
Note to self. Every couple of weeks, check my pump works!
