Commute in or commute out, whats more dangerous?

Im never in a hurry to go to work because I leave in plenty of time after many years of rushing.

Doesn't matter if it's a 5am shift it's done to military precision.

Don't particulary rush home because im generally knackered by end of shift.

I prefer the going to the coming back simply because the route home involves a junction where cars leap out and bikes seem to be invisible!

Nice thread I agree for me its the morning without a doubt I get the school run mob and without being too controversial most of the drivers round my commute being east London cant drive have no insurance and are straight off the boat.

Im getting so pissed off with it im thinking of joining them in the car, its every day without doubt I get some p**k in a banged up Datsun driving like a total idiot trying to kill me.

Evening seems to be worse for badly dirven cars, shouted comments and general impatience. I also spend longer going gradually uphill so spend more time with a bigger speed differential to the traffic. Yet truck drivers seem willing to pass closer in the morning - had one within a foot of my right hand today - a rush to get on the motorway I suppose.

Inbound for me. It's all downhill, and I'm convinced more drivers are still half asleep. I'm going between 30 and 40mph on a long busy drag down into town, so I have to be really on my toes and anticipate arseholery from drivers. Going home is an uphill grind in a cycle lane, with only a few car doors and pillockparkers to worry about.

We miss the rush hour going in (leaving at 7.00 and getting to work at 7.45) but get it full on going home (leaving at 18.00 and getting home about 18.50). So evenings. And this time of year is awful.

The evening rides do tend to shatter me more, unfortunately hills come alive with the sound of pain in the last 3 miles.

I'm "feelin" you ther Karlos.

Chislehurst seems to get higher each day...sometimes the thought of the climb at the end of a long ride is enough to put me off......although, for some reason tonight I found the hills much simpler.
