Commuting shenanigans...(videos)

I got a camera way back in June and I was still finding my way through all the faff of getting the stuff off the camera and onto You-tube when I was forced off the bike by illness. Anyhow, I came across the footage I had from 9 in days in June and thought I'd post some of the more interesting moments.

I've left the sound as is, towards the end of the first clip it is quite important. The lens is quite wide angle so objects are nearer than they appear

At the time every road in Southwark was dug up, plus there was a stabbing or shooting fairly often. My commute could take twenty minutes or an hour and a half.

Good reactions on the crossing, but a bit further out may be better if people are waiting? Don't brake that hard in the current road conditions though.....

Which is the road in the second clip?
I recognise the climb out of Penge and the Herne Hill/Brixton Rd./Kennington Oval bits.

The road in the second clip is Half Moon Lane just before North Dulwich train station. I went the long way round while they were rebuilding the bridge on Red Post Hill.

I'd forgotten about the bridge, that was fun.

Do you come up over Anerley Hill from Penge?

I'm in New Cross so I no longer have to do the hills of Crystal Palace!

I remember those roads well. Full of lemmings around the Kennington/ Oval area.

Gratts - I was riding a Genesis flyer but I've been off the bike for some time now. And tdr1nka I live at the bottom of Anerley Hill so pretty much every commute starts off with that.

If it was the one following the white van then the 'watch your speed' sign said 29mph.

Naughty car in the first clip at 0:50 - completely overshoots the white line to turn right and then a motorcyclist passes to sit in front of him! Madness.

Some of the manouvres pulled by the cars are mindless - it's as though you need 4 wheels to be noticed.

To be fair on the two girls, it wasn't because I was on two wheels that they didn't see me - they were walking straight into the path of the taxi behind me in the outside lane.

It's this kind of event and seeing some of rog's stuff in bus lanes that scares me when I think that m'bikes will be in the same place soon.

better to start than end the day on this one! my weekend rides usually end up going over anerley hill - its a bit of a challenge if you have some miles in your legs

good training climb tho. would be interested to see some footage if you have any?
