Does anyone have any basic stats about cycle commuting to offices in London?
We're building a new office in Canary Wharf and I've just found out that the people that manage cycling, parking facilities, etc. are meeting the planners very soon.
I want to get them some general stats along the lines of:
Per 100 employees: X males and Y females will cycle to work on average Z days per week (average over a year).
That should be enough to estimate facilities etc. It's early days - we move in 2013 - but the earlier we start asking the better chance we have of getting decent facilities.
Corp. of London recommend 1 space per 1000 usable square feet (CW comes onder Tower Hamlets - I have no idea what their guidlines are). Our new office is 1mm sq feet. I don't know what % is usable but it's probably around 750k = 750 spaces = unlikely. There's also no guidline on changing/drying facilities. Having 750 spaces is useless if there's only 5 showers.
Thanks.
