Its not rocket science but a study that's comminng out soon reveals that bus commuting is less stressful than commuting by car; its just a pity they don't seem to have included comuting by bike. On the whole it might be less stressfull on a whole but some SMIDSY's will send readings through the roof. Which mode of Transport do you find most stressful ?

I dont commute by car, never have. So out of the remaining options, the bus is by far the worst.

You always miss one when walking towards the bus stop and have to leave the house much earlier just to ensure you get to work on time.

My 3 mile commute is quicker, cheaper and more reliable to walk, than get a bus.

So cycling wins hands down

Catching a train winds me up something rotten. Having to listen to the problems of my fellow human beings being discussed. I just want to shout "Get off the train and don't get back on until you've sorted your life out, you sad *******"

But that may be just me.....

I'd say bus is the most stressful for me. Being out in the sticks, you are always wondering if the bus will turn up or not....

Before cycle commuting I would have to get 6 trains a day to get to work. 2 Normal trains and the DLR.

I think over the years I have had every conceivable train delay possible (and non conceivable ones too). Horrible vile unsocial commuters coughing, sneezing, spitting, shouting into mobiles (yes, we hear you every single fekking day say you are pulling into the fekken station), People playing music through their mobiles whilst everyone just tut's and says nothing to the scrotes. Putting feet on seats. Putting bags on seats and showing annoyance if someone want's to sit there. Moaning because someone dares to open a window for a little bit of bloody fresh air. Sitting on a damp piss stained or chewing gum covered seat. Hair gel covered windows. Carriages stinking of greasy burgers and/or puke. Having to wade through enough discarded free newspapers to wallpaper a friggin house.

When I do have to make that journey for what ever reason as you can imagine I absolutely detest it, I really do.

Would I be right in saying that your not the biggest fan of commuting by train then....?

That's one of the stresses the report apparently will list. The strange one perhaps they list too is on the bus you can work (laptop) so it can be stressfull.

I have never seen anyone using a laptop on a bus. On trains, yes, but not on a bus. You'd mess up the hard drive every time the bus hit a pothole, and there are one or two in Glasgow......

Commuting by car is not stressful, just boring. The few times, in the past, when I have used the bus to commute were unpleasant due to low life chav scum that frequented them.

Out of all the modes of transport that I have available to me, buses are the most stressful, mainly because there is not a direct bus route. It takes an hour for me to get in on bus compared to 15-20 mins on the bike. It gets stressful because I worry about the first bus being late and then subsequently missing my connection, which then pushes the journey time up to 1.5 hours.

On the rare occasions I've had to commute by train, I've not enjoyed it. I love trains for leisure journeys though.

Buses, though I like being able to read or just stare out at the scenery, would be my second most stressful. The homeward leg in rush hour takes ages due to them stopping at virtually every pickup point on the way - they are also usually packed to standing space so not the most comfortable experience.

Living in the sticks there are no trains so I voted bus as the most stressfull. I would have to catch 2 buses and to meet my connection to get in in time I have to rely on the first bus being bang on time and then sprinting to the next bus stop for 5 mins pressing every ped crossing button en route to delay bus number 2. If I missed this then the next bus would get me in 30 mins late.

On the homeward leg the last bus for my village leaves the centre of Ipswich at 17:15 which is 30 mins before I can get in so I end up getting the bus to near Felixstowe and end up with a 30 min walk at the end

Bike or car are just so much quicker.
