if you can fit Conti Sports contact I would recommend them. They are available in 26", but I'm not sure about the widths

It's a bit more complicated than that...
Schwalbe Marathon plus.
Now, what was the question?

For a commuting bike, puncture-resistance in the face of limited maintenance is the single most important feature, in my experience. Marathon plus are generally accepted to be the most puncture-resistant tyres there are. On a wide-rimmed 26" wheel you won't notice much difference in riding quality or speed between tyres.

Schwalbe City Jets. Cheap, puncture proof and roll well.

I am on my second pair of city jets on my 26"er.
