Commuting Weapon

Company has just offered a Cycle-to-Work scheme.

Been considering a high speed robust commuting machine, and fancy an on-one pompetamine Versa. Dropped bars, and presumably the position I'm used to and happy with, therefore fairly agressive and reasonably quick in the face of the sort of headwind that is blowing through my window at the moment. But a gear set that won't need constant adjusting, and a chain that will take a long while to wear out, so won't need as much cleaning as my current steed.

On the down side, the scheme (Cycle Solutions) don't do On-one. Alternative is the Genesis Day 01 Alfine. Fine, apart from orange frame will clash with my hair.

Anyone else do a drop-bar agressive geometry hub-geared bike?

Oh, and how on earth can you offer a cycle-to-work scheme, and include in it a unicycle? HOW?

How "not agressive"? Currently ride a Specialized Allez. Had a go on a few flat barred bikes at the bike show, and didn't like the position at all - felt like my knees were going to knock my elbows all the time, and couldn't stand up and ride.
Not agressive in a MTB/Dutch style, or not agressive in an Audax Vs Sportive way?

Audax sort of way. Just look at the frame geometry and you will see what I mean.

This is how. My Brother's a keen unicyclist, and if you can make it up this hill in Sheffield, Steep unicycle climb, then commuting on one is possible. ( My Brother's the one who made it to the top. )

Commuting in the dark on a unicycle look here... no problem.

One thing's for sure, if you spend £5,000 on a bike, you may get noticed by the odd biker, but most won't bat an eyelid.....on a unicycle when you're mixing it with heavy traffic, everyone notices!

I have issues with the term "aggressive" as it does sound rather naff when applied to a bike.

A head down arse up position and fast steering does not make you a faster rider over night, you can tuck in on the drops and go just as fast in a straight line on a more relaxed geometry frame as you can with a sharper angled one.

Go fixed - but a proper road bike (drops) with panniers. Not one of the fixies !
