I started commuting 8 miles each way to work around 3 years ago when I finally woke up and realised it was quicker than by car. At the time I had a hybrid and left it locked outside at 1 of the 4 unused cycle stands.
Today my company announced a secure indoor area (unused office) for the cyclists to leave our bikes in.
Over the past 3 years things have changed. The company joined the C2W scheme and we now have 9 regular/semi-regular cycling commuters.
When I first cycled I use to get abuse and the usual "why?" questions. These days all I get asked is questions like "Should I get a hybrid or road bike?", "Would I be able to commute from X?", ...
We're still waiting for the showers but things are moving in the right direction.
