No idea, sorry

My personal view is no, it's better using compatibles in ink jets but your experience rather stymies that.

Always found that laser compatibles don't last as long or print as well and could invalidate your warranty.

The only problems you might have with compatible toner cartridges is if they are remaufactured incorrectly, some of the high street comapanies attempts I have seen in the past involve breaking the seal on the waste toner part of the cartridge and this can cause toner to get into the printer and make a right mess and eventually it will knacker it.

I use toners from http://www.cartridgemonkey.com/ and i find that they use good quality toners from reputable companies and my laser is squeeky clean, so if you make sure you use good quality consumables you should be ok.

Avoid companies that refill them in the back of a shop.

Just to add I spent 15 years repairing printers for a living which is how I know the mess incorrectly remanufactered toners can make.

I've used remanufactured ones in my HP laser printer and Samsung copier since their warranties expired. I've never had a problem, and they're cheaper than new ones. The amount of toner's about the same as in new ones.

BUT

I don't buy the cheapest, and only get them from a supplier which has an underwritten no damage guarantee.

I have a Samsung b/w laser printer & buy cheap toner refils & cartridges off ebay & have been doing so for about 2 years. Printing about 2k copies a month, i guess i've been very lucky cause printer is still doing fine
Was looking at a colour laser soon, but after reading this thread, I may have to take greater care with that
