My computer has stopped working, which is a shame as I was really looking forward to doing a "Bentmikey" and photographing the odo when it reached 2000 miles (small things....).

Bummer

This has now lead me to rely on cyclogs to "motivate" me each week. The only problem is, that Cyclogs "helpfully" predicts your expected mileage for the month...

According to the great god of cyclogs, even if I maintain my current rate, I'm still going to be 20 miles short for the month....GRRRR

I can see a weekend ride coming up...this is not supposed to be happening, I'm only supposed to be a commuter!!!

Just find yourself a set of instructions and manually set it to 2000 miles ;).

You have 20 miles to catch up on at the weekend? I'll get the kettle on!!!

Cycling at weekends to catch up on mileage makes you an advanced commuter? ;) Well done!

I like your thinking, but I prefer HC's offer;)

I am trying to find out if I can swap the battery on my computer without losing data (I am assuming this is the issue). Its a really ancient Halfords cheapy so I dont hold much hope.

If so, my next quest will be to find a way (without sitting in the living room spinning the wheel) to add the mileage that it's missed

so I may take your advice...in some way

If you do it very quickly....some have the ability to store information for a couple of minutes. I doubt yours does though ;)....but like I said, adjust the total distance manually, so it is whatever you are currently on (or just downright cheat ).

Jonny, i've got one of these:

sat on the bench at home, i was hoping to fit it to my LHT but the bit that attaches to the wheel doesn't fit. Low tech but very reliable, and you don't have to worry about batteries .

is that using a pully to record the miles? EPIC!

You should be able to set the data when you put the battries in, i can do that on my halfauds one and every other cycling computer i've used, just make sure you record all the numbers

that's funny because I looked at them a while back (when i was a little worried that the computer was taking over my life!!...or at least the commuting bit of it)

I decided to stick with the computer as it does record other elements (speed being the main one).

If that was an offer, then I am touched, thanks

I use a cheap (<£10) ASDA bike computer just for total mileage. I use my Garmin 305 for everything else.

The cheap computer has just started to blink the maintanance icon, I'm to scared to touch it as I dont want to reset my total! ;)

Where was that manual......

I've got a nice Cateye wireless thingy cadence job on the fixed......don't look at it...have comp's on all the bikes - use it to record data - like miles.

Was a bit frightening watching the RPM go nuts on the fixed though...now, hardly ever look it.......

fossyant, how battery hungry are these wireless ones? I love the cadence feature, I'm thinking about a blackburn cause it's cheap & does ave & max cadence.
