Sick of my specs steaming up,losing vision in the rain.
Whats the pros and cons of cycling in contact lenses.I cycle daily whatever the weather and was wondering if they are a viable option

I wear contacts and cycle without problems.typically I will wear some kind of sunglasses over the top, but cope fine without any. Without glasses it takes a couple of minutes for my eyes to adjust, but no problems after that.

So a thumbs up from me for cycling with contacts.

Not many downsides to contact lenses. Though best still wear cycling glasses with them for pretection against the usual. Grit, insects etc .

Though it has been known for an eye to get a bit watery and blink the lens out, but that's very rare.
I always carry a couple of spares if I go out with lenses.

These days I am more then happy with my Optilabs prescription cycling glasses.

I have never had any trouble when cycling in lenses. As Ian said above, I have always worn cycling glasses for protection from flying stuff, I would wear these anyway, just good sense.

I will often wear my contact lenses without any issues and other times my prescription sunglasses.

One thing I will say though, if you are going to go down the contact lens route, then make sure you go for daily lenses, not only are the better for your eyes, but I find the fit much better as well

I switched to contacts from glasses and find it much much better

I have no problems, and find visibility is much better, especially in extreme weather conditions!!

Contacts for me too, had used them years ago anyway but had a break for a while.
Much better than cycling in my glasses, especially in the rain.

Fitting them is a 1 minute job in the morning

No problems at all with contacts when riding! I wear monthly lenses and find the fit to be fine. I did have an initial experimental period to find the best fitting lenses for comfort and function.
I also protect eyes from grit and bugs with tinted glasses.

I would never wear contacts in isolation as you will get grit (or sweat which stings like buggery) in your eyes.

So, with contacts and glasses, the lenses can still steam up.

I usually ride in my normal prescription glasses but on longer rides will use my contacts plus cycling glasses. Being over 50 however means that when I have my contacts in, I need reading glasses to read maps etc whereas if I have glasses on, I can look under the lens and read fine D'oh

May look at laser someday.
