Hi,

Used to wear gas-permeable, then went over to daily disposables. The good thing for cycling with dailies is that - and it hasn't happened yet - if I did get something in my eye, I could take the lens out there and then and just dump it on the roadside. Gas-perms and monthlies would be too expensive to do that.... Just keep a spare pair with you on your commute.

Also, dailies/monthlies and soft lenses are much easier to take out than gas-perms/rigids - especially with one hand.

Contact lenses are really versatile, you can wear them for anything(except maybe skydiving or diving).
I've worn them for both.

I wear contacts (daily disposables). I don't tend to wear them on the bike though. I think I look like a numpty in the Aldi cycling glasses that I have, and I wouldn't like to not wear any kind of glasses as I've had quite a few flies hit my glasses lense really hard before now. Pretty certain that would have hurt a lot! I have prescription sun glasses so I'm sorted on the glasses front anyway! I've worn my contacts in the shower before now with no problems, as others have said just try not to rub your eyes.

I wear fortnightly disposable contacts. Good compromise between cheaper monthly but not too expensive if you loose one.

Never have a problem when in the shower, just don't rub your eyes.

I have to wear cycling glasses otherwise the wind tends to dry them out, but then I can choose what lenses to wear depending on the conditions.

I haven't lost one yet, but I always carry a spare pair with me just in case.

I used to use daily disposables, and yes you can shower, and they are great for cycling in rain. They did dry out in the wind a bit and once in a while one would come out. So carry spares.

BUT I had laser treatment and it changed my life by making sport easier (partic swimming) and I now train 8-9 times a week, have lost 3 stone etc etc......

I wear dailies, I use a company called lenscatalog and they are pretty good value, but always visit a qualified optician/contact lens dispensing person at least once a year. I have lost the odd one due to a strong gust of wind so stick a few of each side in your bag just in case.
