I get that clapping thing, American quix shows give me the clap but surely clapping after every solo at a jazz concert has to the the worst. The origin of clapping was to demonstrate that an audience was not considering the alternative which was chucking stuff.

Clapping to music is unforgivable and any perpetrators should be shot - I paid to listen to music not your moronic mistimed metronoming.

I was at a concert yesterday evening and really enjoyed it (never having heard any music by the Swedish troubador - Mikael Wiehe) EXCEPT for about 20 out of the 700 in the audience clapping at the start of EVERY song!!! :cursing:

It was as if they were saying 'Oh, we recognise this song as well and YOU don't - aren't we f*****g clever and loyal knowledgeable fans!' TOSSERS

They should be thrown out onto the street.

I'm soooo embarrassed I wish this had faded to obscurity. I KNOW how to spell and when I realised I'd spelt bloody 'contestant' wrong, I tried to correct it and pressed the wrong button. After that, you can edit all the content you want but you can't change the heading! It's there for all to see, even thems that don't walk in to this shop.

Anyone remember Stars in Their Eyes.
There was always a pause whilst the audience decided if the singer was any good or not, then clapped!

How about the trend in team sports like volleyball for every point won to be self-applauded with a round of high fives! :cursing:

I've noticed in the cricket now (especially with Team England) that when a particularly good piece of out-fielding has been made, then near, and not so near fellow fielders, run across to give them a little fingertip touch of approval/admiration. FFS!

I saw Casablanca at the cinema few years ago and there was clapping at the end from the mainly 'older' audience - I thought it was rather nice.

Applauding a good film used to be common in my youth... never see it these days, probably because the ticket prices are so high, people feel ripped off even if they thought the film was awesome.
