I started using GP4000s last May on the Spesh Secteur - and have replaced the rear recently as precaution, not necessity.

Done over 2500 miles in them, in all conditions. During that time I've had 2-3 punctures and am sold on them. Yes, I've Lugano's on my 'winter' road bike (Raleigh Airlite 100) but these are MUCH better.

Mich PRO series tyres are not commuting tyres, they are race or event tyres.

I have used Pro 2 and Pro 4 both flippin great. I don't use for commutes.

Commutes have used Mich Lithion 2 and Conti 4 Season, Both very good, but the Lithion wears out much faster than the 4 Season, but it is half the price. I have gone back to the conti for commuting.

Mich pro for the fast bikes with latex tubes .

Nah balls to that.

IIRC Hac uses em all the time.

I used my Pro 3s regularly - not just for racing, not commuting either, but for more than the odd special occasion and they are delicate but good fun whilst they last. They are light and handle well but the more you inspect them after a ride, the more sceptical you become of their strength - I had gashes and nicks all over the shot within a few hundred miles and you know, confidence when it comes to a tyre is everything and the only tyre that has ever blown out on me, was a Michelin Pro 3 and it was for this reason that I decided to try something different like the link I gave above.

For the same price range - Vittoria's any day, but I haven't used the Pro 4s, only their predecessor and for the same money I'd hedge my bets elsewhere...and again the GP 4000s are also an unknown quantity to me...

..but I'd still say Vittoria!

The Pro 3's are currently on price drop on Wiggle and can be had for very little money at the moment, circa £17 each.

They came as OEM on my bike and despite having two boxed and unused 4000s in the garage I have stuck with them and have no complaints.

When the time comes to change them the currently plan is for some Pro 4 comps, which are a little lighter. They are just blooming expensive and no one is doing any deals on them currently.

All that said, I loved the 4000 S when I switched to them and currently run them on my wet weather / winter bike.

Now trying to work out if I ought to keep the two new and boxed 4000 S as stock or just flog them and put it towards the Pro 4 Comps

If you haven't bought them yet, check the German websites - I bought a pair for under £50 delivered last year (took 3 days from order).

I love Conti GP4000s tyres! I have trained and raced on them almost exclusively (I say almost because I have raced on Conti Podium TT tubular tyres a few times and use a worn Schwalbe Lugano on the turbo trainer) for a year now with only 3 punctures (1 my own fault for not looking hard enough for the sharp that caused the original puncture so an hour later it went again). They roll well, corner brilliantly, don't cut up, puncture rarely, long lasting tbh couldn't really ask for much more out of a tyre.

I ride on Pro 4 Service Course everywhere including commuting. I do have a 80% rural commute that most people would consider to be a pleasure ride into the foot of The Pennines though. I reckon I get circa 3000 plus miles out of a set. They are definitely more durable than the pro threes but retain the low weight, speed and grip. Chain Reaction sell them at £47.99 a pair with lightweight inner tubes. I might try the Pro4 Endurance next which are supposed to be longer lasting than the Service Course.
