copaslip grease for pedal threads

Ive put this on my pedal threads after removing them eventually arggh i ended up standing on the allen key what a hassle !! any hoo I think this type of grease should be ok ?

Thats what ive always used.Never had a problem with it or had a stuck pedal.

Also invest in a proper pedal spanner. Mine has saved my knuckles on many occasions

pedal spanners are pretty old skool these days - all my bikes including my hack have pedals that take 8mm allen key only

Except mine has an allen wrench on it as well

Although TBH since I invested in some t bar allen wrench's I do tend to use those now as I don't need as much leverage due to regular maintenance and continuous application of copper slip

I use copaslip on every thread that doesn't need threadlock. Have been doing so since '95. Very glad I've done so.

I use it on pedal threads, but it is still a good idea to undo your pedals once in a while...... (I have found - he said whilst looking for a suitably sized piece of steel pipe to extend the 8mm allen key being used - ineffectively - in the attempted removal of the drive side pedal......)

I know someone who used copaslip in the hub bearings on his car. It didn't turn out well...

Got it off! Without an extension. I had been trying to do it on a workstand. Much easier with the bike on the ground.

Some years ago I discovered PTFE tape, as used by plumbers, was very good as an anti-seize. I can confirm, through actual experience rather than intuition, that it out-performs copper grease on pedal threads when used on a commuting bike in use all-year-round.

It has the advantage of being very cheap, easy to get hold of and clean to use. Try it, you never know, you might like it.

I just used lithium grease on mine and hand tightened them and gave them a tiny nip with a pedal spanner. When I put my new chainset on after about 2 years use the pedals came off really easily. Hardly any force required with the spanner.
