Picked this up yesterday. Pre 1960 Fiorelli built Coppi with a mix of components.

Bought it from a guy who had salvaged , restored and ridden it for a few years. He was riding it less so decided to move it on.

Bike had been painted over. He has stripped back to the original paint and then added/replaced components. He only realised it was a coppi when he stripped the original fork coins which had been painted. I now have the coins and will put them back along with a headtube badge

Plan is to ride and enjoy, change to a triple on the front, possibly a TA cyclotouriste or a Stronglight 49D and perhaps a rear with greater capacity. New brake blocks and cables as it would be nice to stop!

@BalkanExpress stopping is overrated ^_^

Love it and enjoy it

Back in the early eighties, by the dockside in Vickers, Barrow, 7:30 am, Fred Whitton is riding a bike down a steep incline towards the waterside, a look of concern comes over his face, his Universal brakes have decided to brake no more, concern turns to horror and finally panic as he leaps with the grace of an ex-pro over the rear wheel, leaving his bike to finally fall on its side inches from the edge. I make a mental note never to buy Universal brakes.

That's a beauty - even the bottle cages are pretty!

Ta, I'd be picking your brains where it not for the fact that it is a bit modern for you:laugh:

The bottle cages do indeed look great and they are held in place with old toe straps. Bottles fit very snugly so at least you don't have that rocket launcher effect when you go over speed bumps.

Overhaul completed.

Campagnolo record front and rear mechs

Stronglight 49d with (new) 40/26 rings

challenge Strada Bianchi 30mm tubulars

Port bottle corks for bar end plugs

Eroica not completed but historically accurate as everyone used to catch a train back in the day..didn’t they?
