I like the look of these. I like the idea of hub gears and disc brakes. The Cotic would be far more expensive but the look of the Charge frames don't inspire me. Strong yes but too heavy.

A chap at work test rode the Mixer and didn't like it at all - too ponderous and heavy. He's ordered a Roadrat.

The ride feels like a good light-weight steel bike should - nippy and light and springy. Certainly not heavy.
Like the aesthetics too.

Betty, do you get any bad jolts through the straight steel forks? I was once thinking of getting a RR but didn't like the idea of that as I once had a Dawes racer-type with that type of fork, it was painful!

Bad jolts eh?
Well I have my tyres up to 130 psi and carbon bars and nothing too bad, certainly nothing painful. The carbon bars may help to ameliorate the jolts though. Never ridden it without them so unable to make a comparison.

sorry to drag this back up - but did the OP ever get a roadrat?

I also am tempted by a RR frame built up with disc brakes and hub gears - it needs to be able to accept a rear rack too as this will be a multi-purpose bike for commuting, towing the kids tag along, winter training and the odd 3 or 3 day tour!

(not asking much am I?)

it would replace 3 bikes as I am under pressure to clear the garage up a bit - at least I hope it would replace three!
any more views on the roadrat frame?
